Lights Canada Case Study #4: A Stock Alert System That Never Cries Wolf

The first prototype fired an alert on every transaction below the threshold, five rapid orders meant five identical emails, and admins stopped reading them. The redesign introduced reservation-based locking to kill overselling, threshold-crossing detection so each boundary breach produced exactly one alert, and a full alert lifecycle so resolved situations didn't stay open on the dashboard.
