Customers paying hundreds of dollars for chandeliers needed to know where their order was but the data feeding that status came from payment webhooks, warehouse staff, and carriers, none of which are reliable or ordered. An event-sourced order state machine was built so out-of-order and duplicate events resolved correctly, with honest UI messaging for gaps rather than frozen or wrong statuses.
